Memorials

  • It is with sadness that we report that CJ who was a loving and wonderful senior cat passed from lung cancer. He was loved by Aaron and Michelle and was a very lucky cat at his age to find a forever home. He had a caring and devoted family with which to spend his last months.

  • We say goodbye to Rachel's beloved Charlie. His five years with her was a wonderful happy ever after. Alas, for Rachel they were just five short years. Charlie was loved by many.

  • A donation has been made in memory of Rebecca Nanna by all her friends at Redwood Animal Hospital.

  • A donation was made in honor of Lucy, who was loved by Jeff.

  • A donation has been made for Scarlett who battled canine mammary cancer with a waggedy tail and loving spirit.

  • A donation has been made by R. Mills in honor of Marcia Porter.

  • Rebecca's Rainbow honors the memory of "Urban," a stray dog who was found near death from starvation in September, 2010. Despite the emergency care and love we gave him, this sweet dog didn't survive because help came too late. The memory of Urban motivates us to find every pet a loving owner who will take care of him or her and provide a warm, safe home.

  • A donation has been made in honor of Casey, who was loved by Amy.

  • A donation has been made in Vicki Gunderson's name in lieu of big Christmas gifts.  Love "The Brother".

  • A donation has been made in the name of Melissa and Gracie.

  • A donation has been made by Robin Van Steenburgh in memory of Carolyn Bryce.

  • Lady, our wonderful senior cocker spaniel, needed help passing over this February. She continues to be loved by her sponsors in Kansas, the Newburys, and she is missed by everyone who knew and loved her. We hope she now can hear, see, run, and has functioning kidneys once again. She never stopped wagging her tail.

  • A donation has been made in Renee Mills' name by Marcia Porter in honor of Renee's birthday. Happy Birthday, Renee!

  • Sparkle, an 11 year old Westie, passed away peacefully as she battled severe arthritis and advanced Cushings disease. She was a dear old girl and shall be missed.

  • Cami, a beautiful border collie who was loved by Alice and Toly for many years, passed over at just three weeks shy of her 17th birthday. She will be missed.

  • A donation was made by Karen Bell "in loving memory of my mother, Marilyn Anderson."

  • It is with great sadness that we say "farewell" to a dear friend of ours and a strong advocate for animal rescue. Renee Mills passed away on April 28, 2011. She is remembered with great love by friends Marcia and Diane who have made a donation in Renee's honor. Renee is deeply missed. Wherever she is, we hope she is surrounded by wonderful animals.

  • Murphy came to us very ill.  After months of treating him for pneumonia we learned that he had a tumor which caused persistent progressive pneumonia which we could not beat down.  We so enjoyed this dog and regret that the most humane thing to do for him was to let him pass on. He is missed.

  • A donation was made in memory of Cheryl Williams and her beloved dogs, Lily and Bailey, by Judith Stickney and Barbara Frey.

  • Our heartfelt thanks to Jack Stuart for his support of our mission and ongoing financial sponsorship of pets needing medical attention.

  • A donation has been made in honor of the 60th birthday of Judy Fihn, an extraordinary person and lover of dogs.

  • A donation has been made in memory of Frankie Valentine whose 3 cats and Sheltie were left behind.

  • We are grateful for the sponsorship of Kate Guykema and Bob Grey.

  • It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Riley who was a sweet and loving Lhasa. Dignified to the end, he was very ill, had become deaf, and suffered from dementia.

  • Angus, an 8 year old Lab/Hound mix, was in need of a home and was living in the shelter. When we became aware of his plight, we took him in for vetting, and the diagnostics confirmed that he was quite ill and suffering. Angus is no exception to the oft cited observation that dogs can be so stoic and hold in their pain. He is a sweet and loving dog and we are sorry for his illness but grateful that he got to run in the sun, socialize with other dogs, and have a good meal before passing over.

  • Hillary didn't quite make it to 19. Since losing her beloved human, Larry, she has been with us, and we have enjoyed having her. She was a sweet and loving little kitty with very good manners. She recently began to show signs of kidney disease and went downhill very quickly. We thank Joyce for her weekly visits with Hillary. She will never know how much that human contact and kindness did to bring joy back into Hillary's life. Hillary will be missed.

  • It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Kit, a young and sweet gray kitty who never found his forever home after losing his owner. Kit's kidney disease had progressed to the stage at which he was living near the water fountain and vomiting up what he drank. He was in misery and we let him go just before Christmas. We hope he is chasing butterflies in a lovely pasture or batting at snowflakes.
